Position Overview: The Lead Audio-Visual Systems Technician plays a crucial role in executing various installation tasks on technology projects for our clients.

This position is essential for ensuring that the majority of work is completed efficiently in client facilities.

The technician will collaborate with project managers and field supervisors to fully grasp their responsibilities on specific assignments.

Responsibilities include interpreting technical drawings to establish the foundation for completed systems, which may encompass displays, projectors, speakers, microphones, and equipment racks.

The Lead Technician will handle our most intricate system designs, mentor junior technicians, and exemplify professionalism in all job aspects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise field operations when an on-site supervisor is not present.
  • Physically install a diverse range of technology in various settings.
  • Perform various cable terminations and ensure compliance with our standards.
  • Assist in preparing equipment racks, including power strips and grounding bars.
  • Read and interpret functional design drawings and cable riser diagrams.
  • Mount essential equipment such as monitors, speakers, and projectors.
  • Demonstrate consistent technical performance and flexibility in work schedules, including potential overtime and weekend work.
  • Provide daily updates to field supervisors and/or direct managers.
  • Handle advanced fiber optic cable installation, termination, and testing.
  • Generate cable labels and manage wire listing activities.
  • Maintain tools, company vehicles, and installation materials, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
  • Keep accurate records of time worked on projects for timesheet purposes.

This role requires the technician to operate independently on client job sites, coordinating with clients, contractors, and subcontractors.

The technician will often serve as the primary senior field supervisor, responsible for delegating tasks, overseeing work quality, and communicating with key stakeholders.

Physical Requirements: The position involves occasional climbing, using stairs, and lifting materials up to 40 pounds in construction environments.

When not on-site, the technician will work in a standard office environment, utilizing office equipment such as computers.

Travel Requirements: Frequent travel by car and occasional flights are necessary. Local travel to job sites typically constitutes 70-90% of the role, with remote travel potentially reaching 30% at times.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with LED Video Walls and related technologies is essential.
  • A minimum of 5 years as an installation technician or in a related field.
  • Proven experience in leading or managing teams or projects.
  • Familiarity with a wide array of audio, video, and networking equipment.
  • Knowledge of low voltage electrical concepts.
  • Advanced carpentry and installation skills are preferred.
  • Strong verbal communication and customer service skills.
