Santa Clara, California, United States Diversified Full time

About Us: At Diversified, we are at the forefront of technology, setting trends rather than following them. Our mission is to transform businesses through innovative technology and ongoing advisory services.

We offer a comprehensive range of solutions designed to help our clients forge meaningful connections. Whether it's enhancing viewer experiences, engaging employees, motivating audiences, or optimizing operations, our dedicated teams create impactful solutions experienced by millions daily.

Your Role: As an Audio-Visual Installation Specialist, you will play a crucial role in executing a variety of installation tasks on technology projects for our clients. This position is vital for the successful implementation of projects within client facilities.

You will collaborate closely with project managers, field supervisors, and other team members to understand your responsibilities on specific assignments. Your expertise will be essential in interpreting technical drawings to establish the foundation for finished systems, which may include displays, projectors, speakers, microphones, and equipment racks. Additionally, you will provide mentorship to Associate Installation Technicians as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in skills from both Associate Install Technician and Associate Fabrication Technician roles to install components and make necessary modifications on-site.
  • Physically install a diverse range of technology in various environments.
  • Execute a variety of cabling terminations for all wire and connector types, ensuring completed terminations are tested.
  • Assist in preparing equipment racks for staging, including the installation of power strips, grounding bars, and jack-fields.
  • Read and interpret functional design drawings, cable riser diagrams, and architectural plans.
  • Support the mounting of base build equipment such as monitor mounts, ceiling speakers, microphones, and projectors.
  • Maintain a consistent level of technical performance and flexibility in your work schedule, including potential overtime to meet project deadlines.
  • Estimate task durations accurately and provide daily feedback to project management.
  • Build and wire custom designs based on engineering specifications.
  • Handle, install, terminate, and test fiber optic cables.
  • Print and make minor adjustments to cable labels as needed.
  • Ensure an organized and clean work environment at job sites and in the shop.
  • Maintain tools, company vehicles, and installation materials inventory, ensuring everything is orderly and well-documented.
  • Keep personal licenses, certifications, and qualifications up to date.
  • Record daily time worked on specific projects for timesheet entry and reporting.

Decision-Making Authority:
This role often operates independently on job sites, requiring sound judgment in decision-making. While project managers and site supervisors are available for questions, you will need to demonstrate diplomacy when interacting with clients and other stakeholders.

Physical Demands:
The physical requirements of this position involve regular exposure to construction site conditions. You will be responsible for your safety and must comply with all safety regulations. This role may require spending significant time on your feet, climbing ladders, and lifting materials up to 40 pounds.

Travel Requirements:
This position involves frequent travel by car and occasional air travel. A valid driver's license is required, and you will be reimbursed for mileage. Local travel to job sites will constitute the majority of your travel, with some remote travel as needed.

Safety Protocols:
It is essential to maintain and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the job. Hazards must be addressed promptly.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • AVIXA CTS Certification is preferred.
  • One or more years of experience as an associate technician or fabrication technician in a related field.
  • Valid driver's license and adherence to insurance requirements.
  • OSHA 30 Certificate is highly desired.
  • Additional relevant certifications may be required based on the technology focus of the position.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with a broad range of audio, video, and networking equipment.
  • Understanding of low voltage electrical concepts.
  • Basic carpentry and installation skills.
  • Proficient use of power tools and safety practices.
  • Strong verbal communication and customer service skills.
  • Aptitude for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving technical issues.
