The Precision Medicine division at AbbVie is dedicated to advancing translational research and clinical biomarker strategies for both pre-clinical and clinical programs.
The Translational Research team within the Precision Medicine Oncology department employs cutting-edge technologies to explore cancer biology, identify biomarkers, and validate the mechanisms of action for AbbVie's innovative oncology pipelines. This work is crucial for informing clinical decisions, including biomarker identification, patient selection, and therapeutic combinations.
Position Summary
We are in search of a highly skilled and motivated Lead Scientist with a robust scientific foundation in cancer biology, a deep commitment to translational research, and a demonstrated history of research achievements to become part of our dynamic team.
The successful candidate will engage with both the Translational Oncology group and interdisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently design, implement, and analyze hypothesis-driven translational research experiments aimed at identifying pharmacodynamic (PD) biomarkers, understanding mechanisms of sensitivity and resistance, and testing innovative drug combinations to enhance AbbVie’s oncology pipeline.
- Conduct in vitro and ex vivo experiments to assess drug effects using relevant cellular biology techniques, while leading the development, optimization, and validation of new assays.
- Utilize cell and molecular biology techniques to discover and evaluate biomarkers.
- Stay informed on the latest advancements in functional genomics and omic analysis.
- Leverage extensive technical expertise in tumor and immune cell biology to propel translational research for both pre-clinical and clinical oncology projects.
- Initiate and sustain collaborations with cross-functional teams, including clinical biomarkers, in-vivo pharmacology, bioinformatics, and DMPK, to ensure scientific alignment and effective data generation workflows.
- Communicate hypotheses, work plans, and generated data effectively to diverse audiences through both oral and written formats.
- Provide training and guidance to colleagues on established methodologies, troubleshoot assays, and establish novel techniques.
- May mentor or supervise one or more scientists.
