Key Responsibilities

The Chief Engineer for Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) is responsible for steering systems engineering teams in the design, development, assessment, and modification of comprehensive systems projects and systems-oriented products throughout their entire lifecycle. This role plays a crucial part in facilitating engineering synchronization across the Department of Defense's strategic and theater missile defense initiatives, which involve substantial funding and resources.

The individual will spearhead the formulation of measurable requirements, system descriptions, planning, design, and acquisition logistics. It is essential to ensure that all requirements align with client expectations and adhere to government standards through established verification processes. The role involves crafting high-level product development strategies for system requirement specifications and collaborating with various engineering disciplines to ensure detailed implementation.

Travel may be required (up to 20%) to manage technical challenges across geographically dispersed teams, supporting a continuous global operation. The Chief Engineer will provide robust leadership to meet service level objectives established with clients. This position also entails leading the enterprise services delivery team to comprehend the missile defense community and manage a diverse array of risks in a dynamic operational landscape.

The Chief Engineer will monitor and address performance and delivery metrics across multiple large and small business sub-contracts and government task orders with a sense of urgency. Establishing and coordinating the development of standards, practices, and procedures related to overall product development is crucial. The role involves leading teams to design interfaces and integrate system components to function cohesively. Performance assessment will be conducted using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures. Additionally, the Chief Engineer will act as a liaison for customer relations and support business development initiatives to understand and shape customer requirements. Participation in system conceptual design and documentation of design concepts is also expected.

Qualifications
  • Must possess a fully adjudicated TS/SCI clearance.
  • Minimum of 16 years of experience, demonstrating team leadership, supervisory, and/or management capabilities in the following areas, preferably within the Department of Defense and Missile Defense sectors:
  • Systems analysis, architecture, design, development, and maintenance of technologies pertinent to missile systems or military command and control, including network, data center/hybrid cloud, telecommunications infrastructure, satellite communications, and commercial 5G.
  • Experience in producing, testing, and implementing systems designs and test procedures in accordance with DoD best practices.
  • Ability to prepare command and control system designs, including diagrams, instructions, and cost estimates for large-scale projects.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting system issues, inspecting and maintaining communication systems, and maintaining detailed maintenance and training records.
  • Capability to assess the strengths and weaknesses of existing systems and provide effective solutions to identified issues.
Preferred Certifications:
  • State, national, or international certification as a Systems Engineer or Professional Engineer.
  • Current or previous Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • A Master's degree in systems engineering, information systems, or another engineering discipline may substitute for PMP certification.
Essential Requirements:
  • Willingness to relocate to Colorado Springs, CO.
  • Ability to work on-site with the customer.
