Position Overview

The Chief Engineer for Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) will spearhead systems engineering teams to conceptualize, develop, assess, and refine comprehensive systems projects and systems-oriented products throughout their entire lifecycle. This role is crucial in ensuring engineering alignment across the Department of Defense's strategic and theater missile defense initiatives, which encompass programs exceeding $1 billion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct the formulation of measurable requirements, system descriptions, planning, design, and acquisition logistics.
  • Guarantee that requirements meet client specifications and government regulations through formal verification techniques.
  • Oversee high-level product development strategies for system requirement specifications, collaborating with various engineering disciplines to facilitate detailed implementation.
  • Manage technical challenges across geographically dispersed teams, necessitating travel (up to 20%) to support a continuous global operation.
  • Provide strong leadership to meet service level objectives established with clients.
  • Lead the enterprise services delivery team to comprehend the missile defense sector and manage a diverse range of risks in a dynamic operational landscape.
  • Monitor and address performance and delivery metrics across multiple large and small business sub-contracts and government task orders with urgency.
  • Establish and coordinate the development of standards, practices, and procedures related to overall product development.
  • Guide teams in designing interfaces and integrating system components to function cohesively.
  • Evaluate performance using defined criteria and technical performance measures.
  • Act as a liaison for customers, supporting business development efforts and shaping customer requirements.
  • Engage in system conceptual design and documentation of design concepts.
Qualifications
  • Must possess a fully adjudicated TS/SCI clearance.
  • Minimum of 16 years of experience, demonstrating leadership, supervisory, and/or management capabilities in the following areas, preferably within the Department of Defense and Missile Defense community:
  • Systems analysis, architecture, design, development, and maintenance of technologies essential for missile systems or military command and control, including network, data center/hybrid cloud, telecommunications infrastructure, satellite communications, and commercial 5G.
  • Creation, testing, and implementation of systems designs and testing protocols adhering to DoD best practices.
  • Preparation of command and control system designs, including diagrams, instructions, and cost estimates for large-scale projects.
  • Troubleshooting system issues, inspecting and maintaining communication systems, and maintaining detailed records of maintenance and training.
  • Assessment of existing systems' strengths and weaknesses, providing solutions for identified issues.
Preferred Certifications
  • State, national, or international certification as a Systems Engineer or Professional Engineer.
  • Current or previous Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Master's degree in systems engineering, information systems, or another engineering discipline (in lieu of PMP).
Additional Requirements
  • Must be willing to relocate to Colorado Springs, CO.
  • Must work on-site with the customer.

Compensation

The typical salary range for this position is $135,000 - $216,000, based on experience and other relevant factors.
