Patient Accounting Supervisor

At Licking Memorial Health Systems (LMHS), we are passionate about improving the health and well-being of our community. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Patient Accounting Supervisor to join our team.
Job SummaryThe Patient Accounting Supervisor will be responsible for supervising a team of Patient Account Representatives, providing guidance and training to ensure timely processing of claims, re-billing, write-offs, and refunds. This role will also involve analyzing and researching unpaid accounts, working with health plan representatives and other employees to resolve problematic claims.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain an efficient A/R billing operation and a high-quality staff by training, supervising, and evaluating all personnel.
- Oversee staff while maintaining a positive work environment.
- Supervise and inspire the team to achieve their goals.
- Communicate and provide oversight to staff on core job functions, including payment posting, reimbursement management, claim submissions, and A/R follow-up and denials.
- Carry out audits of current procedures and processes to improve billing and intake operations.
- Monitor department reports and productivity.
- Provide support to all members of the team.
- Escalate issues to the manager as necessary.
- Identify barriers that create delays and coordinate acceptable resolutions.
- Train new team members on systems and team-specific role/responsibilities and ensure competency.
- Provide payer information updates to staff as needed.
- Monitor and ensure accuracy, compliance, and uniformity in financial operations.
- Manage performance of individuals through regular communication and feedback.
- Supervise and carry out corporate billing and collections policies and procedures.
- Read, write, and follow verbal or written directions.
- Ability to operate various office machines, including a Personal Computer, fax, copier, etc.
- Strong proficiency in the use of Word, Outlook, Excel, and other Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong experience in medical insurance/healthcare billing and collections work in the medical field.
- Strong ability to communicate effectively with staff, colleagues, patients, and insurers in person, over the phone, and in writing.
- Analytical ability to detect and resolve problems.
- A minimum of 2-3 years' experience in healthcare billing/collections field.
