Star Roses and Plants stands at the forefront of the horticulture sector. As a Sales Representative for your designated territory, you will have access to an extensive range of proprietary plant genetics, including well-known brands such as The Knock Out Family of Roses. Your potential for sales growth in roses, woody ornamentals, edibles, and perennials is supported by a network of over 100 suppliers, offering limitless possibilities.

Your enthusiasm for plants drives you to be on the move. You value the autonomy to manage your own client base, portfolio, and business strategies, and you stay ahead of the curve regarding new product offerings. You are well-versed in the complete sales cycle, from identifying customer needs to providing tailored solutions, closing deals, and ensuring follow-up communication.

Your clients appreciate your commitment to their best interests, and you approach sales with expertise, ensuring the right plants reach the right customers. Your assigned customer service representative shares this sentiment, creating a strong partnership focused on business growth and technical support for growers and licensees.

Collaboration is key in this role, as you will interact with various departments within Star, including sales, supply chain, marketing, and portfolio management. You may also engage with finance to address customer credits or collections. During peak shipping seasons, you will coordinate with our team based in California.

Travel Requirements:

Expect to travel regionally and nationally 50–75% of the time. Your responsibilities will include daily site visits to customers, attending corporate and regional trade shows, and collaborating with colleagues at our main offices. Each day presents a new opportunity to deliver exceptional products to your clients. Be prepared for long travel days and site visits that may involve extensive walking and outdoor exposure.

As a tech-savvy individual, you should be comfortable using Microsoft Office and Teams for virtual collaboration.

Qualifications:

To excel in this position, candidates must possess the following:

  • A minimum of 5 years of successful field sales experience, preferably with a background in selling to growers.
  • A positive attitude, dedication, and a collaborative spirit with colleagues and clients, along with the ability to provide innovative solutions.
  • Proficient sales strategies encompassing prospecting, presenting, closing, and territory development.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Preferably a resident within the designated territory.
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel daily throughout the territory.
