Role Summary

The Resident Support Specialist is tasked with overseeing the well-being of residents, managing their check-ins and discharges, and assessing their conditions to provide comprehensive reports to the Program Manager, Case Manager, and Lead Specialist. This role also involves assisting staff with documentation and tracking residents' progress post-discharge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver professional, compassionate, and secure care to all residents.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to residents' needs.
  • Maintain a safe, calm, and welcoming environment for all clients.
  • Communicate rules and procedures effectively to residents.
  • Ensure compliance with program policies and procedures.
  • Input and update necessary data in the HMIS system.
  • Adhere to all program guidelines and Salvation Army policies.
  • Complete intake forms and maintain individual resident files for new admissions.
  • Document daily activities, gather required signatures, and provide thorough end-of-shift reports.
  • Report any unusual incidents, occurrences, or injuries.
  • Ensure cleanliness and safety of resident rooms and common areas.
  • Maintain security within and around the facility.
  • Act promptly and appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Uphold resident confidentiality at all times.
  • Assist Case Managers with documentation and follow-up tracking for residents.
  • Be flexible with work hours as required.
  • Ensure the safety of passengers and cargo during transport.
  • Instruct passengers on safety measures and practices.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of vehicles.
  • Report any delays or accidents as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or management.

Working Conditions

Ability to perform physical tasks such as walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs. Must be capable of operating standard office equipment and vehicles.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; A.A. or B.A./B.S. preferred.
  • Valid State of California Class C driver license with a clean driving record.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Skills and Abilities

  • Culturally sensitive and non-judgmental approach.
  • Understanding of issues related to homelessness, mental health, and chronic illness.
  • Ability to complete required training and health screenings.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and first aid.
