As our next Liquid Production Operations Leader, reporting to the Head of Operations, you will oversee the production of liquid formulations, washed extracts, and emulsions, as well as the development and activities of departmental personnel. Your role will ensure that customer orders are fulfilled promptly and meet the highest quality standards. You will uphold exceptional standards regarding product quality, production efficiency, cost management, industrial hygiene, food and worker safety, and environmental stewardship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of 100 union employees through two Managers and six Supervisors across three shifts over five operational days in a complex, regulated environment.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with other department managers and stakeholders.
  • Manage shop orders to meet customer requirements while ensuring quality and yield standards. This includes troubleshooting and resolving issues as they arise.
  • Adhere to the production schedule and deliver products as promised by collaborating with the Supply Chain team and other supporting functions.
  • Develop production and quality metrics, identify inefficiencies, and initiate improvement programs, including capital projects.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to department supervisors and specialists, empowering decision-making at all levels. Coordinate staffing decisions and secure additional temporary resources as needed.
  • Enhance site and departmental EH&S, food safety, and standard work practices, ensuring all personnel are trained and compliant.
  • Oversee departmental expenses to achieve annual financial objectives. Implement cost-saving initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of excellence and adherence to GMP and regulatory standards.
  • Formulate and execute strategies for cost reduction, waste minimization, capacity enhancement, and process optimization.
  • Participate in the site management committee and lead site and corporate initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in a technical or business-related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in production management or supervisory roles within the food, pharmaceutical, or similarly regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with SAP.
  • Experience managing substantial budgets while ensuring product quality.
  • Proven mentoring and coaching experience.

  • Master's Degree in a Technical Discipline.
  • Leadership experience in a unionized environment.
  • Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
