As a Principal Engineer I, your role will encompass engineering tasks that sustain and improve the company's telecommunications and signal processing hardware, software, and electrical systems.

You will collaborate with technical operations personnel on system design and configuration, providing guidance to design teams and advising team leaders.

Consistently support initiatives aimed at simplifying and enhancing the customer experience.
Design, implement, monitor, enhance, and troubleshoot systems within designated areas.
Analyze and revise existing system logic challenges and documentation as needed.
Test and evaluate system designs.

Offer Engineering Technical support and guidance to regional teams, ensuring adherence to all technical integration, modifications, standards, and documentation.

Mentor and guide technical staff, reviewing work plans and designs while suggesting improvements.
Comply with industry-specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.
Understand and follow company policies.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications

Experience:
Minimum of 5 years in engineering roles
Minimum of 5 years in project management roles

Education:
Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience

Technical Skills:
Fundamental knowledge of industry specifications and standards such as IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet, and Transport technologies and protocols
Basic understanding of network design, architecture, protocols, and topology
Basic knowledge of TCP/IP and the OSI Model
Familiarity with ticketing and software tools to support current operations.
Basic knowledge of network devices and appliances, as well as network design software like Visio.

Skills:
Strong communication skills and the ability to engage professionally with all levels of business users.
Extensive experience in collaboration and building consensus with both leadership and implementation teams.

Abilities:
Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English
Capable of using personal computers and software applications
Able to perform duties in a fast-paced environment and quickly learn new technologies

Travel Requirements:
Office environment

Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
Preferred industry and vendor-specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)
