About the Role

The Lead Infrastructure Solutions Engineer will be tasked with designing and implementing infrastructure solutions that align with industry best practices. This role involves close collaboration with Process Control Engineers to effectively integrate Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) systems. The engineer will possess extensive knowledge across various infrastructure technologies, including servers, networking, storage, and security, to design, deploy, manage, and support these systems. The Lead Engineer will ensure that all incidents assigned are thoroughly analyzed, resolved, and communicated within the established timeframes. Proactively, the engineer will identify and mitigate potential issues early while leveraging emerging technologies and methodologies to deliver superior solutions. Additionally, the engineer will spearhead specific infrastructure projects.

  • Collaborate with IT teams and architects to establish and maintain a stable, scalable, and manageable infrastructure (servers, networking, storage, security, and personal computing).
  • Oversee selected infrastructure implementation projects and solutions.
  • Monitor critical production processes and technologies that significantly impact business operations, diagnosing, resolving, and communicating Tier 3 incidents as a hands-on expert.
  • Identify and document the root causes of unplanned outages and implement appropriate resolutions.
  • Design and execute infrastructure solutions that meet organizational needs in a collaborative and effective manner.
  • Operate and enhance services in alignment with business requirements, priorities, and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Configure, maintain, and support layer 2 and layer 3 switches, virtualized servers, storage area networks, and security measures.
  • Document procedures and processes while consistently adhering to established guidelines and standard operating procedures.
  • Proactively learn and train other team members on new products and service technologies.
  • Travel Requirements: Up to 20%.

Qualifications

  • Education: A two-year technical degree is required; a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in developing, implementing, or supporting business-critical solutions is required.
  • Proficiency in incident troubleshooting and escalation, along with experience using help desk ticketing software.
  • Familiarity with Office365 and Azure cloud infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity solutions and best practices.
  • Experience with enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Management of security devices, including firewalls, SDWAN, TACACS/Radius, VPN, and wireless technologies.
  • Experience managing medium to large infrastructure on a daily basis.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft clustering, Microsoft SCCM, SAN, Exchange, Linux, and other systems administration.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep expertise in the following systems:
  • Windows 10/11, Windows Server, Active Directory, and MS Exchange.
  • VMware, Azure, Pure SANs, Citrix, and SilverPeaks.
  • Cisco networking equipment, including switches, routers, firewalls, and Cisco Call Manager.
  • Meraki and Cisco Wireless technologies.
  • Cisco Data Center Technologies such as UCS servers, Blades, Fabric Interconnects, and Nexus switches.
  • Skills: Excellent verbal, written, and customer service skills. Proficient in applying network design and configuration best practices. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a capacity to prioritize and resolve issues swiftly.
  • Abilities: Capable of providing expert-level (Level 3) troubleshooting in a mid-scale enterprise environment. Adaptable to dynamic and challenging environments, demonstrating sound decision-making and judgment.
