Key Responsibilities of the Principal Engineer I
As a Principal Engineer I, you will oversee engineering initiatives that enhance and maintain the company’s telecommunications and signal processing hardware, software, and electrical systems. You will collaborate with technical operations personnel on system design and configuration, providing guidance to design teams and team leaders.

Qualifications for Success
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years in engineering roles
- Minimum of 5 years in project management

Education:
- Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience

Technical Skills:
- Fundamental knowledge of industry specifications and standards such as IEEE, ANSI, Fiber technologies, Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet, and Transport protocols.
- Basic understanding of network design, architecture, protocols, and topology.
- Familiarity with TCP/IP and the OSI Model.
- Proficiency in using ticketing and software tools for operational support.
- Basic knowledge of network devices and design software like Visio.

Essential Skills:
- Excellent communication abilities and a professional demeanor when interacting with business users at all levels.
- Extensive experience in collaboration and consensus-building with leadership and implementation teams.

Core Abilities:
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Competent in using personal computers and software applications.
- Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment and quickly adapting to new technologies.

Work Environment:
- Office-based role

Schedule:
- Full-time position

Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with company products and services
- Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) certification
- Industry-specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)

Technical Proficiencies:
- Monitoring and DevOps coding (e.g., CI/CD infrastructure automation)
- Networking and Routing expertise
- Operations Automation/DevOps experience with tools like Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, and Cloudbees
- Proficiency in scripting languages, particularly Bash, and coding in languages such as Python, Java, Go, and Groovy.

Application Software and Platforms:
- Experience with Linux, RHEL, Ubuntu, and AWS platforms
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and other relevant technologies.
