Position Overview:

Ryerson is seeking an Outside Account Manager to join our Sales team in the Indianapolis, IN market. As an Account Manager, you will be responsible for developing customer personnel trust and confidence in Ryerson and its representatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build strong relationships with contacts at all levels across a variety of functions within customer organizations, particularly with purchasing decision makers.
  • Communicate regularly with customers about industry and economic trends and Ryerson's ability to assist customers in adapting to change.
  • Collaborate with service center and regional sales/product management to develop quotations and contract proposals that meet customer needs and result in profitable sales for Ryerson.
  • Stay up-to-date on the competitive environment and provide market intelligence to sales management to inform service center sales strategies, price levels, and working capital decisions.
  • Increase revenue from assigned customers by expanding product lines or items sold and converting general line sales to fabrication sales.
  • Engage service center management, regional management, Global Accounts, or other corporate management, and Ryerson supplier representatives in establishing and maintaining relationships at all levels of customer organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred (preferably in marketing, business, or a related field of study) or related experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years previous sales experience in the metals service center industry or similar industrial sales background/industry.
  • Proficiency with MS Office is required, and SAP experience is highly desired.
  • Strong business acumen, excellent customer service, interpersonal, and both oral and written communication skills; persuasive negotiation skills.
  • Effective problem-solving/conflict resolution skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Aggressive, competitive, and self-motivated attitude is essential.
  • Keen attention to detail with a strong aptitude for math.
  • Understanding of Inventory Management to support JIT needs for customers.
