About the Role

Battelle Memorial Institute is seeking a highly skilled Senior Chemist to lead our Explosives Detection team. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing new technologies to detect and identify explosives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of researchers in the development and testing of new explosives detection technologies
  • Design and conduct experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of new detection methods
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies into our existing detection systems
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and reports to communicate research findings to stakeholders
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in explosives detection and provide recommendations for future research directions
Requirements
  • PhD in Chemistry or related field with 5+ years of experience in explosives detection research
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing new technologies in a research setting
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design and conduct experiments to evaluate new detection methods
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with machine learning and data analysis techniques
  • Knowledge of explosives detection regulations and standards
  • Experience with laboratory instrument maintenance and quality control checks
  • Ability to travel up to 25% for business
