Electrical Engineer - Power Distribution Specialist

Bayer is seeking an Electrical Engineer - Power Distribution Specialist to join our team. As an Electrical Engineer - Power Distribution Specialist, you will be responsible for collaborating with our leading Crop Science Row Crop Production sites to support electrical norms, practices, standards, guidelines, and procedures.

You will work closely with Plant Managers/Cost center heads, as well as other engineering and project disciplines, to create a common understanding and generate support for electrical distribution and infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the maintenance and reliability phases of electrical infrastructure
  • Understanding and following electrical norms, practices, standards, guidelines, and procedures
  • Collaborating with Plant Managers/Cost center heads and other engineering disciplines to create a common understanding and generate support for electrical distribution and infrastructure projects
  • Working with area plant electrical teams for startup of new or modified electrical infrastructure equipment
  • Ensuring electrical safety and compliance with NFPA 70E
  • Evaluating and providing electrical engineering and/or project management services with respect to electrical infrastructure
  • Developing, reviewing, and approving electrical specifications, drawings, and other documentation
  • Providing direction and support to electrical designers for CAD drafting, electrical code guidelines, and proper electrical installation
  • Providing field support and participating in check-out, commissioning, and start-up as needed
  • Supporting high and medium voltage maintenance personnel on distribution projects
  • Providing direction to field engineers for performing switchgear, motor control center, utility, and rental equipment maintenance or installation
  • Interfacing with other area engineering disciplines/departments, customers, and vendors/suppliers, 3rd party contractors, and other skilled trade groups to ensure scope of work development and execution of projects are correct and agreeable to all parties
  • Interfacing with Regional Electrical Power Providers for system load changes, power outages, demand changes, and infrastructure modifications

Requirements:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering discipline with 10 years of experience in Electrical Power Distribution at Industrial Manufacturing Production Facilities in the areas of maintenance, engineering, and operation, or MS with at least 6 years of experience, or Ph.D.
  • Working knowledge of National Electrical Code (NFPA 70 and 70E)
  • Experienced in reliability-centered maintenance and engineering
  • Competent and knowledgeable of the holistic approach to effective asset performance management
  • Experienced in the use of SKM PowerTools to execute fault calculations, load flow studies, relay coordination, and arc flash hazard analysis
