Tractor Trailer Mechanic Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Tractor Trailer Mechanic to join our team at On The Road Diagnostics & Repairs, LLC. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of diesel engine units, ensuring peak performance and efficiency.

Responsibilities:
  • Execute scheduled preventive maintenance on tractors, including fluid changes, filter replacements, and safety inspections of key components.
  • Identify and resolve mechanical issues with tractors and trailers, including repairs of engine, hydraulic, transmission, electrical systems, brakes, A/C, etc.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance and repair activities, utilizing computerized systems for work order management, parts inventory, and tractor history.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of tractors to proactively identify potential problems and recommend necessary repairs, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Work closely with fellow mechanics and team members to facilitate a smooth workflow, communicating effectively with supervisors and dispatchers regarding maintenance updates and repair timelines.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergencies, providing on-site repairs when required, prioritizing safety and efficiency in all emergency repair situations.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Tractor & Trailer Mechanic, with a minimum of 3 years in the field.
  • Proficient in diagnosing and repairing tractor components, including engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools and computerized systems, with Fullbay knowledge being a plus.
  • Commitment to adhering to safety protocols and working in compliance with industry regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate within a team environment, with excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to efficiently diagnose and address mechanical issues.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to emergency situations outside of regular business hours.
