We are currently seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to be based at our Centralia, IL facility. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for inspecting and documenting welded projects for both structural and pipe fabrication, ensuring 100% compliance to IE weld standards as well as AWS/ASME codes and customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide oversight and in-process inspection of all welding processes
- Review customer specs against project drawings to ensure all weld call outs meet spec as well as various codes
- Perform critical inspection procedures requiring special set-ups of new or unique equipment and interpretation of test data from a variety of sources
- Work with mechanical/design engineering and project managers to ensure the weld ability of assemblies and structures for meeting various specifications
- Ensure documents, processes, and procedures comply with quality requirements and specifications defined in the IE inspection record
- Meet with internal and external customers when required to explain/demonstrate welding processes and procedures
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure worker's compliance with established welding quality procedures, restrictions, and standards
- Associates degree in Welding Technology or related technical field plus two years welding experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Ability to obtain CWI certification
- Knowledge of a wide variety of welding processes and procedures
- Knowledge of ASME, AWS and other applicable codes and welding standards
- Excellent written and organizational skills
- Ability to read and understand building prints, layouts, and welding specifications to measure against quality standards and final product completion
- Must be very observant and very good at paying attention to detail
- Knowledgeable in the use of technical equipment used in welding testing procedures and quality inspections
- Requires excellent customer/interpersonal/ skills with ability to resolve welding quality issues
- Must be detail oriented to keep accurate records and files
- Requires good computer skills in recording and tracking data
- Requires good math skills in performing welding tests and measurements
- Must have good understanding of applicable safety regulations (OSHA) procedures and operations
