Job Summary

Amherst College is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Custodial Supervisor to join our facilities team. As a key member of our operations team, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the cleanliness, sanitation, and maintenance of our academic, administrative, and dormitory buildings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervision: Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate a diverse custodial staff to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Custodial Operations: Develop, plan, and coordinate work assignments, including summer conferences and other College events, to ensure efficient and effective use of resources.
  • Reporting and Communication: Submit regular reports and address issues related to work requests, dormitory-related issues, and snow and ice removal.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergencies and perform custodial duties as needed to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
Requirements
  • Education: High School or Vocational Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Two years of custodial or equivalent experience and 2-3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Skills: Strong customer service, time management, organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Qualifications: Valid Driver's License, successful credentialing to operate college vehicles, and an acceptable criminal offender records information (CORI) check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Associate degree in business.
  • Experience: Similar role at an academic institution or large facility.
