Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of this role is to prepare discovery responses for attorney evaluation and approval. This involves gathering and organizing documents and information from clients and external sources while maintaining a thorough understanding of the entire case file. Additional responsibilities include providing various forms of support to attorneys.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze case files and prepare draft responses to various discovery requests, including Form Interrogatories, Special Interrogatories, Requests for Production of Documents, and Requests for Admission.
  • Engage with attorneys to gain insights into case details, liability, and damages to inform the drafting of discovery responses.
  • Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and documents to effectively respond to discovery requests and support claims related to liability and damages.
  • Finalize discovery responses and send them to clients for confirmation.
  • Collaborate with legal assistants to ensure timely production of expert files prior to depositions.
  • Request and obtain records such as medical documents, bills, and police reports.
  • Summarize medical expenses for clarity and organization.
  • Under attorney supervision, notify lien holders and manage lien information documentation.
  • Organize and maintain documents provided by clients, including medical bills, wage records, and other pertinent materials.
  • Attend defense medical examinations as required.
  • Coordinate with legal assistants regarding deadlines and attorney availability for finalizing responses.
  • Upon case settlement, work with legal assistants to ensure all outstanding invoices from experts and vendors are promptly processed.
  • Ensure that any last-minute expenses are approved and communicated to the accounting department for inclusion in settlement statements.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred educational background includes a college degree or paralegal certification.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in litigation, with a focus on plaintiff personal injury and medical malpractice being advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of the Code of Civil Procedure and its requirements.
  • Familiarity with court filing processes, including e-filing in both state and federal courts.
  • Proficient in software applications, particularly the MS Office Suite, and adept at managing calendars.
  • Excellent communication skills and a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with the capacity to handle multiple high-volume tasks in a fast-paced setting.
  • Able to interact effectively with diverse personalities across various organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and client relationship management.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $115,000, depending on experience.
