KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure the achievement of all safety, service, and cost objectives within the logistics facility. Promote a safety-first mindset that guarantees the well-being of every associate, preventing injuries at all times. Advocate for safety protocols, processes, and training to foster a culture centered around safety in the operations environment.
Mentor and develop Logistics Managers through personalized coaching, training on policies and procedures, aiding in problem-solving when necessary, and exemplifying leadership.
Guide and enhance the performance of all logistics personnel by collaborating with Logistics Managers to assess performance and formulate improvement plans. Foster associate engagement and retention, nurturing a culture that reflects the core values of US Foods.
Cultivate a unified organization by maintaining open communication channels and directing the workforce to optimize workflow efficiency.
Build high-performing teams by evaluating staffing needs and overseeing the recruitment and hiring of logistics staff. Assess performance, coach to meet productivity and safety benchmarks, and implement disciplinary measures when required.
Develop operational flow processes and identify strategies for process enhancement and cost reduction. Establish and uphold operational protocols for activities such as verifying incoming shipments, managing product handling and disposition, ensuring warehouse inventory accuracy, and coordinating shipment selection and loading.
Identify and eliminate waste, enhancing processes to complete tasks more safely and efficiently.
Approve daily load operation plans in collaboration with Logistics Managers, ensuring timely completion of truck loads. Confirm that load plans adhere to weight restrictions and consistently accommodate special customer requests.
Monitor operational metrics, including inventory discrepancies, production targets, and safety reports. Identify issues, analyze root causes, and recommend changes to the VP of Operations to achieve a zero-error standard in accuracy and customer satisfaction.
Ensure the integrity of products and compliance with food safety standards.
Oversee the upkeep of the physical condition of the logistics facility and its equipment in accordance with OSHA regulations.
In unionized environments, support HR and the VP of Operations in interpreting collective bargaining agreements, administering appropriate disciplinary actions, resolving routine grievances, and participating in arbitration as necessary.
Additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct: Logistics Managers, union and/or non-union clerical staff (Operations Clerks, Logistics Clerks, Will Call Clerks, Slotting Clerks, Truck Builders, etc.)
Indirect: Union and/or non-union on-floor associates (Loaders, Selectors, Receivers, Forklift Operators, etc.)

RELATIONSHIPS
Internal: Logistics leaders and colleagues; Transportation leaders; Internal customers across various departments (e.g., Sales)
External: Vendors

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The role is conducted in standard logistics environments, including cooler and freezer areas where temperatures may reach as low as -5 degrees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Related Experience/Requirements:
A minimum of five years of experience in logistics supervision is required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Comprehensive understanding of logistics operations, methods, and procedures.
Strong leadership, communication, and personnel development capabilities.
Ability to communicate openly and effectively with all associates and departments within the organization.
Familiarity with inventory management, OSHA, HACCP, and other regulatory standards.
Proficient in interpreting financial and operational data.
Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control systems is advantageous.

Travel:

10% travel may be required, typically for mandatory meetings and/or training.

Education/Training:
High school diploma or GED is required; a college degree is preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Licenses/Certifications:
HACCP certification is a plus.
PCQI certification is a plus.

In Washington, the expected compensation for this role is between $90,000 and $149,900. This role is also eligible for incentive pay.
