Job Summary

The Executive Chef is the lead culinary professional responsible for overseeing all culinary operations for a location. This role requires a high level of expertise in food preparation, menu planning, and kitchen management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Trains and leads kitchen personnel to ensure high-quality food preparation and presentation.
  • Supervises and coordinates all related culinary activities, including food purchasing and inventory management.
  • Estimates food consumption and requisitions or purchases food to meet customer demands.
  • Selects and develops recipes and standardizes production recipes to ensure consistent quality and flavor.
  • Establishes presentation techniques and quality standards, and plans and prices menus to meet customer expectations.
  • Ensures proper equipment operation and maintenance, and ensures proper safety and sanitation in the kitchen.
  • Oversees special catering events and may also offer culinary instruction and/or demonstrate culinary techniques.

Requirements

  • Requires at least 2-3 years of experience in a related position, preferably in a high-volume kitchen environment.
  • Requires at least 2-3 years of post-high school education, preferably a culinary degree from an accredited institution.
  • Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the food profession, including food safety and sanitation.
  • Requires experiential knowledge of management of people and/or problems, including conflict resolution and team leadership.
  • Requires verbal, reading, and written communication skills to effectively communicate with customers, staff, and management.
