Position Overview

As a Courtroom Administrative Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include documenting and preserving court sessions by attending hearings, administering oaths to witnesses and jurors, and managing evidence presented in court. You will play a crucial role in the courtroom, collaborating closely with judges and bailiffs to ensure accurate records of proceedings.

The duties of this position are essential for maintaining an objective account of court activities, thereby facilitating the judicial process and promoting timely resolutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend all court sessions, meticulously record proceedings, and transcribe notes into standardized formats within required timeframes.
  • Identify the appropriate parties or agencies entitled to receive copies of court records.
  • Secure and document exhibits presented during court proceedings.
  • Administer oaths and communicate essential court documents to participants.
  • Process and issue various court documents, including protective orders and warrants.
  • Ensure accuracy and attention to detail in all documentation.
  • Maintain a record of cases pending for quarterly reporting.
  • Engage in training sessions and mentoring opportunities.

Work Environment

  • This role is primarily office-based, characterized by a fast-paced atmosphere with extended periods of sitting while performing computer tasks.
  • Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, with potential telework options based on operational needs.
  • Candidates should be prepared for occasional physical demands, including lifting items up to 20 pounds.
  • A successful background check is required for all selected candidates.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of three years of experience in clerical, legal office, or court-related roles.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required; post-secondary education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
