Position Summary:
The Logistics Operations Supervisor is tasked with overseeing a dedicated team of frontline personnel to ensure timely delivery of products to clients within a dynamic distribution framework. This role also involves managing the fleet and equipment associated with designated facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit and onboard new team members
- Plan and supervise the schedules and tasks of the assigned workforce
- Conduct performance assessments that are both prompt and constructive
- Manage employee discipline and terminations in alignment with organizational policies
Core Duties:
- Organize and coordinate daily operations related to delivery services
- Evaluate productivity through the analysis of performance metrics, financial reports, and operational activities
- Collaborate with other departments, including human resources, finance, and warehousing, to ensure seamless operational processes
- Oversee all aspects of delivery operations
- Assess labor requirements to achieve delivery objectives
- Assist in the development and revision of the organization’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations set forth by the Department of Transportation and FMCSA, including conducting pre- and post-trip inspections
- Facilitate team meetings and safety training sessions to promote preventive safety measures
- Utilize routing software (e.g., Encompass, Samsara, RoadNet) and provide recommendations for operational efficiency and compliance
- Review all company communications and respond to correspondence daily
- Perform additional related duties as necessary
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong managerial and supervisory capabilities
- In-depth knowledge of logistics and operations management
- Ability to analyze financial data to establish production targets
- Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent software
- Willingness to participate in all mandatory meetings and training sessions
- Completion of all required training programs
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED is mandatory; a bachelor’s degree is preferred
- A minimum of five years of relevant experience is required
- Possession of a Commercial Driver's License is essential
- Demonstrated safe driving history
- Five years of experience in operations or logistics is preferred
