Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join Sysco as a Delivery Service Supervisor, responsible for overseeing and directing the activities associated with delivery. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of products to our customers.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise the daily work and safety of delivery associates, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and planned routes.
  • Analyze live and historical data to optimize delivery plans and ensure on-time customer service.
  • Supervise labor hours and direct labor activities to stay within budget.
  • Recommend work schedules, including stop changes, classification changes, and customer open/close times.
  • Supervise the proper selection and utilization of company assets in support of the delivery department.
  • Coordinate required repairs with the proper departments as necessary.
  • Review delivery productivity reporting to the appropriate supervisor for review and determination.
  • Suggest efficiency ideas, cost reduction measures, and assist with the implementation of delivery changes.
  • Interpret, train, and consistently apply company policies, protocols, and procedures, including food safety, DOT regulations, record keeping, performance expectations, and safe work methods.
  • Communicate with Sales Management and Marketing Associates via email and maintain current communications board data to collaboratively resolve customer or delivery opportunities or issues.
  • Communicate proactively with drivers and direct activities to ensure successful adherence to daily delivery schedules and departmental performance goals and overtime objectives.
  • Coordinate efforts with Transportation Road Supervisors and with Safety Trainer to ensure consistent training, conducting associate observations, updating preferred work methods, timely accident investigations, and routine safety inspections.
  • Ability to keyboard proficiently and utilize canned reporting.
  • Create specific ad hoc reports to identify areas for improvement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and numerous variants.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Two or four-year college degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or similar major preferred.

  • Ability to successfully engage and lead individual and team discussions and meetings.
  • Capable of working with peers and associates from other departments, operating companies, and Corporate in a proactive and constructive manner.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Working knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • Ability to apply all relevant policies in a consistent, timely, and objective manner.
  • Ability to work in a disciplined manner and capable of following established procedures, practices, and comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Ability to manage the pressures and stress associated with a deadline-oriented atmosphere and customer service issues.
  • Demonstrates skill in making independent decisions in support of company policies and procedures in a timely manner.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software, and ability to learn Sysco technology software and programs.
  • Must have excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
  • Complete a Sysco-approved defensive driving program.
  • HazMat certification preferred.
Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone to talk and hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
