Position Overview:
The Environmental Safety Specialist plays a crucial role in developing, executing, and overseeing the company's environmental safety initiatives to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Formulate, assess, and implement Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies, programs, and procedures applicable across the organization.
2. Conduct regular evaluations and enhancements of existing EHS frameworks, procedures, and policies.
3. Guarantee compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and occupational health and safety regulations.
4. Create and manage necessary EHS permits, including those related to air, water, waste, and emergency response.
5. Identify operational risks within the organization; devise and execute strategies to mitigate these risks.
6. Stay informed about new and evolving EHS regulatory requirements; develop and implement corresponding programs and procedures.
7. Conduct investigations into accidents and incidents, recommending suitable corrective measures.
8. Follow up on action plans stemming from audits, self-assessments, and incident investigations.
9. Support EHS management with report writing, statistical analysis, and trend studies related to incidents and accidents.
10. Lead the Emergency Response Team (ERT) program at the designated site(s).
11. Collaborate on the corporate sustainability program's implementation.
12. Act as a liaison to ensure alignment with the corporate business continuity strategy.
13. Provide insights and recommendations for Global EHS initiatives.
14. Assist in formulating the annual EHS budget for the designated site(s).
15. Review and update budget reports for accuracy and consistency as guided by the EHS Manager.
16. Define project scope, obtain vendor quotations, establish new supplier relationships, and justify funding for purchase orders.
17. Collaborate with the contracts team for necessary contract reviews, negotiations, and execution.
18. Manage regulatory reporting obligations to federal, state, and local authorities as required.
19. Maintain a document management system to ensure easy retrieval of documents for EHS compliance verification.

Travel Requirements:
This role may necessitate travel to various regional locations to perform EHS regulatory compliance audits, evaluate adherence, identify potential hazards, develop job hazard analyses, or conduct EHS training.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Preferred certifications include Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
- Familiarity with local environmental, health, and safety regulations, as well as fire codes.
- Strong research skills and comprehension of specific regulatory language to maintain EHS compliance.
