Job Responsibilities:

The Chemist is responsible for performing a variety of professional chemistry tests and analyses and preparing appropriate reports. This includes analyzing and testing samples requiring professional chemistry principles and practices for EPA compliance and NBC standards. The Chemist will select the appropriate method to prepare samples for testing, such as digestion, filtration, or dilution. They will also prepare and report test results, calibrate, clean, and maintain professional chemistry equipment, and prepare a variety of reports, documents, and records that are required for regulatory reporting. Additionally, the Chemist will maintain a clean, safe, and operationally sound lab environment, assist with overseeing the operations of the lab, and quality control and writing standard operating procedures.

Requirements:

Education/Experience: A bachelor's degree in chemistry and two years of chemical lab experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Skills: Performing professional chemistry tests, analyzing chemistry results, developing related reports, operating a computer and applicable software applications, and communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc.
