Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Strategic Director for Operational Excellence to join our Oncology Early Development (OED) organization. This role will lead the planning and direction of operational activities, ensuring the vision and objectives of OED are achieved. As a key member of our leadership team, you will work closely with cross-functional partners to develop strategic initiatives and optimize processes.

The successful candidate will possess strong leadership and project management skills, with experience in managing broad organizational initiatives and working with global teams. You will be responsible for developing and implementing internal and external communication strategies, leading benchmarking efforts, and ensuring operational excellence across the OED organization.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Strategic Initiatives: Partner with oncology early development leadership to define clear, actionable short and long-term strategic objectives, facilitating their translation into actionable plans.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure operational excellence across the OED organization through effective process management, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.
  • Communication Strategy: Develop and implement internal and external communication strategies to convey OED's vision and goals, leveraging corporate communication channels and partnerships.
  • Benchmarking and Insights: Conduct in-depth benchmarking to identify best practices, assess industry standards, and inform project execution strategies.
  • Resource Allocation: Collaborate with finance and other teams to develop criteria for resource allocation, prioritizing projects based on potential strategic value.
  • Organizational Change Management: Manage engagement and communicate changes to support future portfolio growth, utilizing insights from benchmarking and stakeholder analysis.
  • Leadership Collaboration: Partner with OED PPM and Sr. Staff to determine and prioritize business strategies, key projects, and related processes, aligning with AbbVie's overall objectives.
  • Information Synthesis and Communication: Oversee the collection, synthesis, and communication of relevant information to inform OED strategies and decision-making.
About You

We're looking for a seasoned professional with:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a scientific or business-related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • 7-10+ years of experience in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or healthcare industry.
  • Proven track record of leading broad organizational initiatives and working with cross-functional teams.
  • Project management experience on global projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, conflict resolution, and problem-solving abilities.
