We are seeking a seasoned and accomplished professional to lead our Field Fundraising team as an Executive Director of Strategic Development. Reporting to the Vice President, Field Fundraising, you will be responsible for developing and executing a long-term vision and strategy to achieve our development goals for both public and private funding.

About the Role

In this critical leadership position, you will play a key role in cultivating, stewarding, and managing a portfolio of high-potential donors across various funding streams. You will work closely with local Executive Directors, regional advisory board members, and other front-line fundraisers to maximize giving and develop new donor strategies.

Your primary responsibilities will include building a comprehensive multi-year vision and plan for cultivating complex donors, directly managing and soliciting a portfolio of high-potential donors, and working in partnership with local Executive Directors to build the long-term strategy.

You will also be responsible for mentoring or managing other development staff members, providing guidance and problem-solving support, and building proactive and reactive learning opportunities in partnership with the VP, Field Fundraising.

As a subject-matter expert in fundraising and development, you will leverage your knowledge of current trends in philanthropy at both a local and national level to inform your work and make data-driven decisions.

Requirements
  • A minimum of 10+ years of experience in highly complex development and fundraising contexts
  • A track record of meeting and exceeding ambitious goals as a donor portfolio manager
  • Prior experience in Teach For America development is preferred, but not required

The successful candidate will possess exceptional relationship-building skills, with a proven ability to cultivate executive-level donors and partners. You will also have strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor approaches to appeal to diverse groups of donors.

Compensation

The estimated salary range for this role is $128,500-171,800, based on a cost of labor index in the geographic area. The actual salary will depend on a variety of factors, including education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands.
