The Accounting Manager is expected to deliver a high standard of service and outstanding support to client end users within a demanding and fast-paced setting. The primary role of the Accounting Manager involves overseeing the daily functions of the accounting department and effectively managing the monthly closing process along with the accounting team's activities. This position will play a crucial role in facilitating sound business decisions and optimizing the financial standing of clients through proficient management of accounting operations. The Accounting Manager will ensure consistent and effective customer service for the accounting function across all designated clients, utilizing reports and analytics to address the financial needs of the organization. Key Responsibilities Include:

  1. Accurately review or process transactions in a timely manner, adhering to departmental protocols:
    • Accounts payable
    • Accounts receivable
    • Payroll
    • Expense reports
  2. Oversee staff on client projects to ensure optimal staff utilization, including task prioritization, budget establishment, and staff assignment to meet client deadlines.
  3. Facilitate the onboarding of new clients to the finance organization's systems and policies.
  4. Assist with cash management functions.
  5. Supervise month-end closing, preparing monthly and quarterly financial data, including journal entries, reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and reporting.
  6. Conduct and review operational analysis and reporting, both recurring and ad hoc.
  7. Support the annual budgeting process and ongoing budget management.
  8. Assist with regulatory compliance, including tax filings, audits, and actuarial reports.
  9. Ensure adherence to GAAP and company standards, researching accounting issues and recommending appropriate accounting treatments.
  10. Contribute to the development and implementation of the company's accounting policies and procedures.
  11. Collaborate with Human Resources to recruit and hire accounting and financial personnel and conduct performance evaluations.
  12. Manage accounting staff responsible for accounts payable, collections, and general accounting functions.
  13. Provide coaching and mentorship to junior staff as needed.
  14. Comply with all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in healthcare.
  • CPA certification or eligibility is preferred.
  • Experience with outsourced accounting engagements is advantageous.
  • Background in healthcare or specifically in physician practices is preferred.
  • Experience in financial analysis is preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required, along with proficiency in standard office software and applications.
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating across multiple functional areas (Finance/IT/HR/Clinical Leaders).
  • Proven ability to innovate in a rapidly growing work environment while managing ambiguity.

  • Must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking, understanding, and communicating in English.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must utilize appropriate body mechanics techniques while performing desk duties.
  • Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, and sitting.
  • Adequate hearing to perform duties in person and over the phone.
  • Must communicate clearly with clients in person and over the phone.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to perform job duties, including reading materials from printed sources and computer screens.
