The Opportunity

We're seeking a seasoned Manager of Business Risk and Controls to lead our team of Business Controls Specialists. As a key member of our organization, you'll be responsible for managing a team that provides centralized operational support through internal process review, quality audits, and testing to ensure operational risks are identified and controls are working effectively. You'll motivate staff towards departmental goals, develop employees through regular coaching and feedback, and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

This role offers a flexible work environment, with the option to work from home four days a week. Our locations include San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, Chesapeake, VA, and Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

This position requires occasional business travel and the ability to work remotely in the continental U.S. We're looking for a candidate with over 6 years of experience in controls creation, implementation, and lifecycle management, as well as experience with fraud controls and bank financial crimes.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective training programs for employees.
  • Assess training requirements for incumbents, team members, and the business.
  • Evaluate individual training needs and promote the development of effective team relationships.
  • Oversee and monitor the day-to-day review, monitoring, and testing of controls in an audit capacity and procedures associated with products, services, customers, and operations.
  • Advocate for and guide employees through the utilization of quality methods and tools to identify, analyze, improve, and implement business solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency within the team and with the business.
  • Design and implement operating procedures that provide improved services and enhanced internal efficiencies.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of changes in regulations and industry developments that may impact operations.
  • May oversee responses to external regulatory inquiries and/or internal inquiries as necessary.
  • Oversee the design, assessment, implementation, and administration of complex quality assurance programs, practices, and policies.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are optimally identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 6 or more years of operations, process experience, quality assurance, or quality improvement.
  • 2 or more years of leadership experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant regulatory compliance, industry regulations, and regulatory data sources required.
  • Knowledge of federal laws, rules, regulations, and applicable guidance to area supported.

USAA offers a competitive salary range of $99,160 - $178,480, based on experience and market data. Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance.
