SUMMARY:

The Photography Program Manager is responsible for planning, overseeing, and executing photography initiatives that align with the objectives of the Marketing and Communications Office. This role involves capturing and editing high-quality images for various marketing materials, events, and publications. The individual will also maintain photographic equipment and manage the archival process for images. Leadership of the photography team is essential to ensure all outputs meet established standards and branding guidelines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise a team of photographers, student workers, and external contractors, providing mentorship and feedback to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Coordinate and execute studio and field photography sessions.
  • Capture, edit, and enhance high-resolution images for marketing materials, publications, and media releases.
  • Review and edit submissions from external contributors, ensuring quality and relevance.
  • Assist with camera setup, lighting, and other necessary equipment for shoots.
  • Stay informed about current software and technology in photography, including Lightroom and Photoshop.
  • Manage photography archives and respond to requests for images.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance and security.
  • Balance creative vision with project timelines and budget constraints.
  • Explore innovative photography techniques to stay current with industry trends.
  • Meet deadlines for post-production tasks.
  • Utilize project management tools to track progress and facilitate communication.
  • Foster positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure satisfaction.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in photography or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
    • At least two years of professional photography experience.
    • Proficient in camera operation, editing, and archiving.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
    • Ability to perform under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
    • Detail-oriented.
  • Abilities:
    • Ability to multitask and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Capable of working within a project management framework and meeting deadlines.
    • Willingness to work outside of regular hours as needed.
    • Ability to travel as required.
  • Licensing/Professional Certifications: None required.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift moderately heavy objects.
  • Other Requirements: Portfolio submission is mandatory.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Four or more years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in a higher education environment.
  • Familiarity with project management systems.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for hiring, training, and supervising staff and student workers.
