We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sales Commissions Accounting Manager to become an integral part of MongoDB's Sales Compensation team. This role presents an exciting opportunity to engage directly in impactful work within a rapidly expanding organization. You will collaborate closely with executives and various internal departments, including Sales, Sales Operations, Sales Analytics, Deal Desk, Business Systems, Finance, Accounting, and HR, to refine and establish processes that support our growth trajectory. This position is hands-on, reporting directly to the Director of Sales Compensation, and will involve overseeing the administration of our sales incentive programs while managing the commission calculation and payout processes.
Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee MongoDB's commission accounting and manage the monthly closing process for both domestic and international entities, which includes coordinating and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and fluctuation analyses.
  • Supervise a team of two direct reports.
  • Lead reconciliations of actuals to budget and serve as the primary contact for the FP&A team.
  • Collaborate with Sales Operations, FP&A, and the Commissions Manager to assess new compensation plan modifications and their accounting implications.
  • Navigate the complexities of commissions accounting in light of evolving accounting guidelines.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on MongoDB's Capitalized Commission Process.
  • Manage commission SOX controls and liaise with both internal and external auditors, ensuring adherence to our commissions accounting policies under US GAAP, including the preparation of Technical Accounting Memos.
  • Drive enhancements to the closing process through automation and re-evaluation of legacy procedures, while maintaining and drafting process documentation.
  • Assist with system integration efforts, implementing various finance and accounting solutions.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional accounting experience.
  • CPA certification is required.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in people management.
  • In-depth knowledge of US GAAP, ASC 606, and SOX compliance.
  • Familiarity with business systems such as Xactly, NetSuite, and Floqast is highly preferred.
  • Understanding of internal controls over financial reporting and the ability to implement measures to mitigate business risks.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across various departments.
  • Experience in scaling processes from inception to an optimized state.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and responsibilities while meeting deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of incentive plan structures and systems.
  • Capacity to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
