Patient Access Representative I Medicine

University Hospitals is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative I Medicine to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our patients and families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interview and register patients in a face-to-face setting or on the telephone.
- Enter and validate medical, demographic, insurance, financial, and business data in a timely and courteous manner.
- Prepare standard patient materials, including forms, labels, brochures, surveys, etc.
- Maintain confidential health records, process physician orders, and schedule patients.
- Identify and communicate the need for interpreter services.
- Provide patient education regarding third-party coverage and liabilities.
- Communicate possible payment options and connect patients to a financial counselor if needed.
- Collect, post, and balance co-pays, deductibles, and other patient payments.
- Maintain expertise in PAS legal and compliance requirements and incorporate principles into workflows.
- Handle a wide variety of patient inquiries regarding services and logistics to ensure patients can access care with maximum throughput and minimal delay.
- Recruit and train patients to access My UH Care Personal Health Record.
- Ensure achievement of productivity and quality standards.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of computer systems, insurance/government regulations, and UH/PAS policies/procedures used within the department.
- High School Equivalent/GED required; Associate's Degree or progress towards degree preferred.
- Medical Terminology preferred.
- 1+ years experience in call center, patient registration, scheduling, office, banking, customer service, or related medical field using computers required.
- Standing occasionally; walking occasionally; sitting constantly.
