Position Summary:

We are currently in search of a qualified Marine Structural Engineer who possesses commercial diving and bridge inspection certifications. This role involves conducting thorough structural evaluations of marine and bridge infrastructures, both above and below the waterline. The successful candidate will join our dynamic team in Baton Rouge or New Orleans, LA, contributing to projects primarily within the Gulf region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed site assessments of marine structures and bridges.
  • Ensure project deliverables are met on time and within budget.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, proposals, and inspection documentation.
  • Evaluate the integrity of deteriorating components in marine and bridge structures.
  • Develop plans, specifications, and cost estimates for repair projects.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews of inspection reports.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members across various engineering disciplines.
  • Assist in civil and structural design tasks as needed.
  • Fulfill additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is mandatory.
  • Certification as a Commercial Diver (ADCI, HSE, DCBC, IMCA, or ADAS).
  • Underwater Bridge Inspection certification (FHWA-NHI) is required.
  • NHI/NBIS Team Leader certification is essential.
  • 1 to 5 years of relevant diving and inspection experience, with at least 2 years in bridge inspection.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Boater Safety Card is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary, with most work being local/regional.
  • Eligibility to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Current First Aid, CPR, AED, and Oxygen Administration certifications are preferred.
  • Must pass a post-offer/pre-employment drug screening and background check.

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment requiring focused design work.
  • Fieldwork involving diving and exposure to various environmental conditions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Potential for extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements:

  • Excellent physical condition is required for commercial diving activities.
  • Ability to carry heavy equipment across challenging terrain.
  • Capability to lift, carry, climb, and navigate in small boats.
