CYBER SYSTEMS ENGINEER

ALTA IT Services is seeking two contract Cyber Systems Engineers to support the health and finance division of a prominent systems integrator.

The selected candidates will manage the collection, storage, and analysis of cybersecurity data to enhance a Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) Program.

Responsibilities include organizing data points into structured categories, formatting information for integration with other cybersecurity tools, evaluating data against existing company processes, and preparing reports that outline business forecasts or recommendations.

This position offers a hybrid work model with a requirement for on-site presence.
Candidates must be U.S. Citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Public Trust clearance.
Desired skills include experience with Cybersecurity risk assessments, Splunk, and Xacta.

Position Overview
Duration: 12 months+ with strong potential for contract to hire

Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor, analyze, and identify cybersecurity events and incidents within information systems and networks under general supervision.

- Assist in integrated, dynamic cyber defense efforts and maintain security toolsets to support continuous monitoring and ongoing authorization programs.

- Establish a framework for measuring and quantifying cyber risk in the marketplace.

- Determine security requirements by assessing business strategies; researching information security standards; conducting system security and vulnerability analyses; studying architecture/platform; identifying integration challenges; and preparing cost estimates.

- Implement security systems by specifying intrusion detection methodologies, overseeing equipment and software installation, and establishing preventive and reactive measures.

- Verify security systems through the development and execution of test scripts.

- Maintain security by ensuring compliance with standards, policies, and procedures; conducting incident response analyses; and developing training programs.

- Responsible for the design, development, implementation, and integration of DoD IA architectures, systems, or components for use within computing, network, and enclave environments.

- Ensure that the architecture and design of operational systems are functional and secure, including design for program of record systems and special-purpose processing nodes with platform IT interconnectivity.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience, Master's degree with 3 years of experience, or 9 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum 4-6 years of experience in data tagging.
- Minimum 4-6 years of experience with data source sensor tools for data collection.
- Minimum 4-6 years of experience in building data pipelines and establishing data connections.
- Minimum 4-6 years of experience in creating data pipelines for data transfer through Splunk.
- Minimum 4-6 years of experience in developing integrations between Splunk, DbConnect, and Xacta.
- Minimum 4-6 years of experience aggregating various data types (Splunk, Xacta, DbConnect, CDM, etc.) and creating key-value pairs.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with ETL coding using Python.

- Minimum 3 years of experience in documenting interface designs in a common format and storing interface data in an accessible repository.

- Minimum 3 years of experience in producing process documentation (e.g., data dictionaries, Common Vernacular Documentation).
- Minimum 3 years of experience with obtaining an Authority To Operate (ATO).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Public Trust clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Candidates with the following skills will be given preferential consideration:
- Knowledge of Cybersecurity Risk Assessment, governance, and reusable data models.
- Extensive experience with Python coding.
- Exceptional technical writing skills.
- Ability to communicate complex data in a straightforward, actionable manner.
- Proficiency in visualizing data effectively for various projects or studies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with machine learning and AI.

- Familiarity with data management tools.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse team members.
- Excellent attention to detail.

HOURLY RATE:
$65/hr. to $70/hr. Benefits available
