Position Summary
We are in search of a Senior Civil Project Engineer to enhance our dynamic team. In this capacity, you will collaborate with a diverse group of engineers, project developers, and engineering consultants to assess, design, and secure permits for potential solar PV, wind, and energy storage projects. The ideal candidate will adeptly balance due diligence with project risks, ensuring the ongoing development of projects at New Leaf Energy. This role reports directly to the Vice President of Civil Engineering.

Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting site evaluations, reviewing zoning regulations, and outlining the entitlement process;
  • Engaging with state agencies, municipalities, and other stakeholders, as well as presenting to planning and zoning boards, and federal agencies;
  • Collaborating with staff engineers and overseeing survey, environmental, and engineering sub-consultants;
  • Delivering technical presentations to the business investment committee;
  • Reviewing design documents prepared by internal or external designers;
  • Leading the development of standard operating procedures, design details, plan notes, and specifications.
Qualifications
While no single candidate will meet every qualification, the successful applicant will possess many of the following skills and experiences:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a Civil P.E. license;
  • 8-15 years of experience in site development, entitlement, and environmental permitting at municipal, state, and federal levels;
  • Proficiency in cost estimation, reviewing engineering service contracts, and managing subconsultants;
  • Experience with Planning Boards, Zoning Boards, Conservation Commissions, Historic Commissions, Endangered Species programs, and the Army Corps of Engineers;
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and HYDROCAD (or equivalent design software);
  • Strong communication skills to convey design concepts and facilitate meetings among clients, engineers, regulatory officials, and consultants;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while being highly motivated, detail-oriented, and organized;
  • Capability to lead task-oriented technical teams and mentor early-career engineers;
  • A passion for renewable energy sources.
