Opportunity Highlights

The University of Rochester, Department of Surgery is seeking a full-time tenure-track faculty member (all ranks considered) in the Division of Supportive Care in Cancer.

This is an exceptional opportunity to make significant contributions to the Division in cancer-related dissemination and implementation science.

As a member of the highly collaborative team, you will have the opportunity to join a team of 17 faculty members and trainees, with many participating in Multiple Principal Investigator grants and joint publications.

You will be an active member of the Wilmot Cancer Institutes (WCIs) Cancer Prevention and Control Program (CPC), which has been conducting cancer control and cancer care delivery research with continuous funding from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) for more than 40 years.

Division Highlights

  • PhD-level and Masters-level biostatisticians on faculty.
  • Dedicated IT, regulatory, grants administration, and coordination support.
  • Cutting-edge labs in translational biomarker research (CCPL) human performance assessment and interventions (PEAK) major infrastructure from both of these labs also comprises the Human Biophysiology Shared Resource.
  • Opportunities to serve as a mentor in the Divisions T32 Clinical and Translational Cancer Control Research Training Program.
  • Opportunities to work within the WCI CPC Research Program, which has been conducting cancer control and cancer care delivery research with continuous funding from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) for more than 40 years.
  • Members of the CPC program have access to all WCI shared resources including 1) the biostatistics and bioinformatics resource, 2) the clinical trials office and infrastructure, 3) the genomics research center, 4) a tissue bio-specimen repository, 5) the human biophysiology resource for behavioral intervention design and delivery, physical activity and functional assessments, patient-reported outcome assessments, and molecular biological assessments, and 6) the Office of Community Outreach and Engagement
  • WCI is home to one of only two NCI-funded NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) Research Bases in the United States in an Academic Medical Center (MPIs Mustian and Morrow), with opportunities to conduct practice-changing nationwide research.

Requirements

  • PhD, MD, DO, or equivalent doctoral degree
  • Strong track record of independent external funding
  • Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong record of extramural funding, strong publications, capacity for excellence in mentoring, the ability to provide community and institutional service, and experience in implementation science. Investigators with a research focus on the dissemination and implementation of novel and effective interventions in the context of oncology will be prioritized.
  • Topic areas of high interest include the implementation and dissemination of cancer prevention, cancer control, and cancer-supportive care interventions.
  • Track record of scholarly production with recognizable and significant impact.
