About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled R&D/TS&D Technologist to join our team in Bristol, PA. As a key member of our Wire and Cable R&D group, you will provide technical support to Scientists and Technologist Leaders in the preparation and execution of experimental activities and studies in a pilot plant environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for product development, application development, technical service, and/or product or process research.
  • Conduct plastic compounding, wire & cable fabrication, and miscellaneous unit operations using large-scale equipment.
  • Provide hands-on training to newly hired technicians and contract employees on operating equipment.
  • Manage and execute pilot-plant work requests, maintaining and running relevant compounding and fabrication equipment.
  • Prepare and perform standard and non-routine procedures, including sample or materials preparations, equipment setup, and proper handling and disposal of waste materials.
  • Act responsible for calibration, safe operation, and routine maintenance of instruments or machinery, and troubleshoot faulty equipment.
  • Maintain ISO certification for equipment, operator training, and quality critical instruments.
  • Participate in all safety programs mandated by the site and the department.
  • Maintain inventories of consumable materials, chemicals, and supplies related to activities.
  • Promptly communicate issues to Technology Leader or lead scientists to enable or accelerate problem resolution.
Requirements
  • A High School Diploma/GED and 7 years of related work experience.
  • Must be 18 years old or older.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience in running large-scale polymer compounding equipment.
  • A technical Bachelor's degree with 16 hours of chemistry.
  • 3+ years of polymer compounding experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem solving and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills - inspire others and lead them through influence.
Physical Abilities
  • Must be willing and able to do the following with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.
  • Wear and use respirators.
  • Stand or walk for extended periods of time.
