Position Overview:

The Medical Director will operate under the guidance of the Chief of Medicine, taking on a pivotal leadership role within the organization. This position is essential for steering the healthcare center staff towards enhanced quality improvement initiatives by consistently evaluating and refining operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Achieve productivity benchmarks by managing an average of 14 patient consultations daily, while optimizing scheduling to mitigate no-show occurrences.
  2. Conduct thorough chart and peer reviews in accordance with established guidelines, ensuring a minimum of 5 reviews weekly per clinic.
  3. Oversee or assign peer evaluations of healthcare providers.
  4. Ensure adequate staffing levels within the healthcare center to facilitate seamless patient flow, coordinating vacation schedules to maintain operational continuity.
  5. Direct daily operations and decision-making processes involving facility management, operational staff, and administrative personnel to uphold high-quality care standards.
  6. Implement a cohesive business model strategy across the organization, promoting clear communication of the vision and fostering collaboration among management and staff.
  7. Manage the healthcare center's budget, financial reporting, and billing processes as necessary.
  8. Guarantee compliance with all relevant regulations, including DOH, OSHA, HCFA, and HIPAA.
  9. Establish and nurture significant partnerships with external entities, including community health organizations and governmental agencies.
  10. Ensure the achievement of annual organizational objectives, including the pursuit of new business opportunities and revenue goals.
  11. Conduct research and analyze market data to adapt the business model in response to the evolving healthcare environment.
  12. Engage in domestic expansion efforts, focusing on business development and vendor management.
  13. Maintain productivity standards as set by management, providing guidance and resolving issues as necessary.
  14. Supervise overall clinic administration and report relevant matters to the Regional Medical Director.

Evaluation and Development:

The performance of the Medical Director will be assessed biannually by healthcare center staff and management, focusing on leadership and personnel management capabilities. Participation in leadership development seminars may be recommended.

Meeting Participation:

Engagement in Medical Staff Meetings is required.

Supervisory Duties:

Responsible for executing supervisory functions in alignment with policies and legal requirements, including recruitment, training, performance appraisal, and conflict resolution.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree (M.D., Ph.D., R.Ph.) or equivalent experience; over 10 years of relevant experience and/or training may be considered.
  • Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting scientific literature, financial documents, and legal texts.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with various stakeholders, including top management and public groups.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to apply concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Exceptional reasoning abilities to tackle complex intellectual and practical challenges.
  • Possession of a valid Medical Board License from the State of Texas and Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Practice is preferred.
