Your Role

As a Staff Accountant I, you will play a crucial role within our Accounting department, ensuring the precision, compliance, and effectiveness of our financial operations across various locations. Your responsibilities will include managing accruals and allocations, supporting SOX compliance, and assisting with audit procedures. You will collaborate with diverse teams to uphold the integrity of our financial data, optimize intricate processes, and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of our accounting methodologies.

This position is based at our Headquarters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee accruals for Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), including utilities and mining across multiple sites.
  • Conduct month-end allocations and reclassifications, particularly concerning leases and site-specific processes.
  • Develop and analyze Profit & Loss statements, ensuring data accuracy across all locations.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial reporting packages, including SOX-compliant inventory reconciliations and general ledger detail reports.
  • Compile data for earnings releases and investor presentations.
  • Ensure all supporting documentation for financial reports is complete and compliant with SOX regulations.
  • Manage SOX documentation for month-end entries and assist with audit inquiries.
  • Perform XBRL tagging and maintain compliance standards.
  • Input and manage new account data and request forms within the system.
  • Oversee prepaid schedules, intangible asset schedules, and reconciliations for various financial categories.
  • Coordinate activities for the Reserve Committee, including summarizing meetings and booking sessions.
  • Respond to data requests from finance and operations teams, including data retrieval and vendor communications.
  • Close accounting periods, perform account reconciliations, and manage payroll and work-in-progress reporting.
  • Handle asset retirement obligations and lease maintenance entries, along with purchase orders and project cost forms.
  • File monthly sales/use tax returns and manage financed insurance entries.
  • Record audit/property tax accruals on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare weekly reports on building construction and conveyor systems.
  • Gather and reconcile data for property, plant, and equipment rollforwards and budget comparisons.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
  • Prior internship experience or a minimum of one year in a relevant role.
