Position Overview
The Administrative Assistant I plays a crucial role in supporting the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) by executing a range of administrative functions and special projects. This position is vital for ensuring the efficient operation of the CEO's office and contributes to the overall mission of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently manage various administrative tasks that assist the CEO in fulfilling his/her responsibilities.
- Analyze and evaluate resource utilization, including personnel and budgetary aspects, and provide insightful recommendations.
- Review and assess proposed changes in policies, procedures, and programs, preparing comprehensive reports and interpretations of institutional policies.
- Supervise and approve the work assignments of office staff, ensuring optimal productivity and performance.
- Support the organization’s immediate goals and long-term objectives by performing necessary duties to enhance service delivery.
Minimum Qualifications:
Option I: A minimum of twelve months of experience in California state service in a role comparable to Junior Staff Analyst, Range B, or Staff Services Analyst, Range B.
Option II: At least eighteen months of experience in California state service as an Executive Secretary I.
Option III: Two years of progressively responsible experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Assisting an administrator with administrative details and preparing reports or recommendations for administrative actions.
- Professional or technical experience in a field that typically requires a college education, with at least one year in a supervisory capacity.
Possession of a Master's Degree in a relevant field may substitute for one year of required experience.
Education: Equivalent to graduation from college. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
