The Senior Electrical Engineer - Battery Electronics will spearhead the design and testing of embedded systems while identifying engineering trends to shape Milwaukee Tool's technical strategies. You will collaborate throughout the product development lifecycle in a team environment, engaging with cross-functional stakeholders, including hardware, firmware, product development, and reliability engineers.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design, prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting of embedded electronics hardware and firmware for mid to high complexity projects.
  • Research and collaborate with potential suppliers to select new technologies, including Lithium-Ion Battery Management ASICs, microcontrollers, power devices, and other analog and digital ICs.
  • Provide expert engineering support on complex projects.
  • Exemplify Milwaukee Tool's culture of high performance and agility by independently creating work breakdown structures, driving to critical milestones, and maintaining transparent communication regarding design progress and barrier resolution.
  • Utilize laboratory equipment to debug and refine designs using oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, spectrum analyzers, ESD/EMC, data acquisition systems, and analysis software.
  • Effectively communicate and motivate diverse technical and non-technical team members across the organization.
  • Drive urgency in project timelines and accountability for establishing and achieving key project metrics that align with organizational goals.
  • Independently monitor projects to ensure compliance with schedules and processes.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in embedded electronics design, including 16/32 bit microcontroller-based circuits for measurement and power control.
  • Proven design experience in power management with ultra-low power embedded hardware and firmware implementations.
  • Strong understanding of industry best practices for design documentation, circuit simulation, schematic capture, layout, and prototype verification testing.
  • Proficient in firmware creation for technology evaluations and investigations.
  • Demonstrated ability to create work breakdown structures, drive projects to completion, and communicate progress effectively.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and efficient with a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, capable of exercising independent judgment and performing well under pressure in a dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time (domestic and international).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience with PCBA design in Lithium-Ion Battery circuits for high-volume products.
  • Fundamental understanding of Lithium-Ion battery management strategies and circuits, along with familiarity with lithium-ion battery management ICs and vendors.
