Every phase of development for these essential components is conducted in-house, ensuring high standards and innovation. We are dedicated to enhancing our electrical engineering capabilities, pushing the boundaries in firmware development, power electronics, embedded systems, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

In this role, the Principal Power Electronics Engineer will spearhead collaboration with global Engineering and Operations teams to design, construct, and validate cutting-edge power delivery systems utilizing innovative methodologies. Responsibilities will encompass topology and component selection, schematic design, PCB layout, and the formulation and execution of testing protocols for power electronics circuitry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of electrical engineers in the design, prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting of power electronics across various projects.
  • Simulate, design, and validate multiple AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC configurations.
  • Independently generate test requests for the Milwaukee Test Laboratory based on established procedures.
  • Create comprehensive design documentation, including operational theory, schematics, layouts, bills of materials, test plans, and reports.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to develop specifications that meet performance criteria while adhering to manufacturing capabilities.
  • Mentor the team in engineering best practices, including task management, root cause analysis, circuit design, and PCB assembly.
  • Lead technology assessments, focusing on system requirements, architectural definitions, and reusability strategies.
  • Maintain awareness of competitive products and market trends to inform strategic planning.
  • Effectively communicate project risks and opportunities to senior management.
  • Drive accountability for project timelines and key performance metrics.
  • Ensure the team has the necessary resources and time to achieve project goals through effective planning.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies to align with Milwaukee Tool's product development initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience in power electronics design, including switch mode power supply topologies and inverters.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience.
  • Strong understanding of EMI/EMC principles and mitigation techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with a proven ability to transition designs from concept to production.
  • Solid knowledge of magnetic circuit design, including transformer design and filtering components.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills in analog circuit design.
  • Self-motivated and organized, with a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and capacity to work under pressure.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
