The Senior Power Electronics Engineer will spearhead and collaborate with global Engineering and Operations teams to design, construct, and validate cutting-edge power delivery solutions ranging from tens of watts to tens of kilowatts utilizing novel semiconductor technologies.

Your responsibilities will encompass topology selection, component selection, schematic design, PCB layout, and the development and execution of test plans for power electronics circuitry.

This role will be based at our headquarters.
You'll also engage in these impactful duties and responsibilities:

Taking a lead role in the design, prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting of power electronics hardware and firmware for projects of mid to high complexity.

Simulating, designing, and validating various AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC topologies.
Independently generating test requests for the Milwaukee Test Laboratory based on established standard testing protocols and prior examples.
Creating comprehensive design documentation, schematics, layouts, bills of materials, test plans, and test reports.
Collaborating with suppliers to develop product specifications that meet performance criteria while adhering to process capabilities.

Providing transparent, effective, clear, concise, and timely communication across the organization regarding progress, barrier removal, and escalation of business risks and opportunities while driving appropriate actions based on priority trade-offs.

Exemplifying Milwaukee Tool's culture of high performance and agility by independently creating Work Breakdown Structures for your projects and driving towards critical milestones.

Instilling urgency in project timelines and accountability for establishing and achieving key project metrics that align with the organization's objectives.
Acting as a role model for Milwaukee Tool's culture while mentoring, guiding, and coaching junior Engineers, enhancing your ability to lead and manage a small team.
Utilizing laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, and data acquisition systems.
Independently monitoring projects to ensure compliance with schedules and the Milwaukee process.
Designing and qualifying new designs to meet applicable regulatory standards such as UL, CEC, CE, and ANSI.

What YOU'LL BRING:
A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
7+ years of experience in power electronics design, including switch mode power supply topologies, inverters, and semiconductor component selection.
Strong technical coordination skills and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with other disciplines such as firmware, mechanical, and systems engineers.
A solid understanding of EMI/EMC concepts, including identification of sources, transmission paths, and mitigation strategies.
A hands-on approach with a proven track record of translating designs and concepts into production.
A firm grasp of magnetic circuit design, including transformer design, gapped energy storage devices, and filtering components.
Excellent troubleshooting skills in analog circuit design, with the ability to approach issues systemically to facilitate design trade-off discussions.
Capability to conduct root cause failure analysis after all obvious solutions have been explored.
Experience in analog circuit design and troubleshooting.
Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time (domestic and international).

Preferred ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
A Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power electronics.
