POSITION SUMMARY

The Residential Treatment Lead Specialist plays a crucial role in safeguarding the welfare of our clients by mentoring, instructing, and actively involving them in activities aimed at enhancing their self-regulation, communication skills, attentiveness, social awareness, and adaptability.

Additionally, this position entails offering support and mentorship to Residential Treatment Specialists. In the absence of the Residential Team Manager, the Lead Specialist will assume limited supervisory responsibilities, making essential decisions to ensure the safety and welfare of both clients and staff, along with other tasks as assigned by the Residential Team Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute all responsibilities of a Treatment Specialist.
  • Provide interim leadership in the absence of a Residential Team Manager.
  • When acting as a Residential Shift Manager, ensure compliance with regulatory staff-to-client ratios.
  • Responsible for the completion and transfer of daily reports to the Administrative Assistant, including restraint reports, attendance data, and residential bed charts.
  • May assist with client intake duties during evening and weekend hours, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately and promptly.
  • Facilitate the implementation of treatment plans and programs to foster a therapeutic, educational, safe, and nurturing environment for children, families, and staff.
  • Monitor and apply trauma-informed care practices and approved evidence-based techniques.
  • Contribute to creating an inclusive environment for clients, colleagues, and community partners from diverse backgrounds.
  • Incorporate Trauma Informed Care principles in all work aspects.
  • Be sensitive to the cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds of children to provide optimal care.
  • Maintain precise and timely documentation of services and critical incidents per agency and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure cleanliness and safety of residential units, including sleeping, dining, and activity areas.
  • Assist with children's physical care, behavior management, and treatment planning.
  • Utilize approved trauma-informed and evidence-based treatment methods.
  • Support planning for educational, summer, and special events.
  • Encourage parental involvement in the treatment process.
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Assist in facilitating Day Treatment programming.
  • Act as a positive role model, promoting pro-social behavior among clients.
  • May assist with medication administration for youth as required.
  • Transport children as requested by the supervisor.
  • Ensure a safe and structured environment free from any form of abuse.
  • Provide coverage for programming across the agency as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and agency standards at all times.
  • Adhere to the agency's Code of Conduct and other human resource policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A high school diploma is required, along with three years of experience in child care or behavioral health. A Bachelor's degree in social services, psychology, or a related field is preferred, along with a foundational understanding of child development.

LICENSES

A valid driver's license, automobile insurance, and registration are required. Must be insurable by the agency's insurance provider.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Effective communication of client and program-related information is essential, both verbally and in writing. The ability to engage with diverse audiences, both internal and external, is also necessary.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Basic mathematical skills are required.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to comprehend complex regulatory documents are essential.

REASONING ABILITY

The ability to multitask and resolve complex interpersonal issues is required.

SELF-REGULATION

Must demonstrate the ability to manage emotions and behaviors in line with situational demands, including handling frustration and adjusting to changes in expectations.

TEAMWORK

Ability to collaborate effectively within a team, treating colleagues with respect, resolving conflicts promptly, and maintaining focus on team objectives.
