Position Summary:

The Sanitation Operations Manager is tasked with supervising the daily activities of sanitation personnel during their assigned shifts, ensuring the implementation of all sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOP) within the facility. This role involves training and mentoring staff to foster an effective sanitation program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees by adhering to safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct training for both current and new employees on proper cleaning protocols, chemical usage, and safety measures.
  • Perform regular sanitation audits across all lines and shifts to verify compliance.
  • Collaborate with the sanitation team to manage cleaning operations, including Clean-In-Place (CIP) processes, ensuring proper execution of sanitation tasks.
  • Evaluate sanitation activities to guarantee thorough cleaning of equipment and the surrounding environment, providing coaching to staff on effective techniques.
  • Participate in pre-operational inspections and train personnel to maintain uniform standards.
  • Develop and review SSOPs, SOPs, and Standard Work documentation.
  • Train employees on safe chemical handling and usage.
  • Address concerns related to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), SSOP, SOP, and other quality control programs.
  • Conduct inspections of the facility and equipment to assess cleanliness and recommend improvements.
  • Assist in the recruitment and training of sanitation and quality personnel, ensuring adherence to safety and cleaning protocols.
  • Work with the sanitation team to maintain a comprehensive Master Sanitation Schedule for the facility.
  • Engage in third-party audits, collaborating with management to resolve quality and sanitation issues.
  • Support investigations and root cause analyses to enhance process performance.
  • Participate in customer concern investigations and relevant current events.
  • Contribute to the approval process for new equipment and SSOP development for facility enhancements.
  • Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards, maintaining sanitary conditions and product quality.
  • Assist in the development of corporate and plant quality systems related to sanitation and operations.
  • Monitor all prerequisite systems to ensure accurate documentation.
  • Provide supervisory support for the sanitation staff as directed by management.
  • Offer technical assistance to customer service and clients regarding sanitation processes.
  • Lead investigations related to shelf life and microbiological concerns from a sanitation perspective.
  • Participate in plant-wide GMP audits and training sessions.
  • Conduct food safety and sanitation audits to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all plant processes to facilitate problem-solving and internal audits.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, adhering to all safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, Food Science, or a related field.

Communication Skills: Effective communication in English, both verbal and written, is essential for promoting a safe and efficient manufacturing environment.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret business documents, technical procedures, and regulations, as well as to write reports and correspondence.

Experience: A minimum of five years in a similar role or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Mathematical Skills: Proficiency in basic mathematical concepts and calculations.

Reasoning Ability: Strong analytical skills to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize sanitation tasks.
