Become a part of Thermo King as a Lead Engineer for Structural Modeling and Simulation and help shape the future of product design. In this role, you will advance the frontiers of virtual engineering to create dependable Transport HVAC product designs. Work Environment:
This position supports a hybrid work schedule (3 or more days onsite per week).

Your Responsibilities:

  • Plan, execute, and oversee the development of structural simulation models to support requirement verification or failure mode mitigation for New Product Development (NPD) or Quality Driven Productivity (QDP) initiatives. This includes predicting fatigue life, stress, displacement, and vibration using implicit and explicit finite element analysis (FEA) and/or multibody dynamics (MBD) simulation methods, along with model correlation and calibration based on empirical data.
  • Develop and adhere to standard work and design guidelines concerning the structural design of systems, components, and joints, including fasteners and material selections.
  • Serve as a key member of various product and technology development teams to design reliable and durable products in accordance with Modeling and Simulation team standards.
  • Collaborate closely with test engineers and technicians, prioritizing test requests, designing appropriate tests, overseeing test implementations, ensuring data validity, and documenting findings in formal reports.
  • Lead the advancement and growth of the Modeling and Simulation Team, focusing on both computational and experimental tools and methodologies applicable to Transport HVAC products.
  • Support and achieve annual corporate objectives for individuals and teams.
  • Utilize effective project management techniques and leverage available technical skills and resources for successful outcomes.
  • Mentor and collaborate with engineering resources globally.
  • Promote the principles of structural reliability and their relevance to product designs.
  • Some overnight travel may be required (likely less than 10%).
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Applied Mechanics or Mechanical Engineering (with a focus on Structural Integrity) and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience is required.
  • A Master's Degree or Ph.D. with five years of relevant experience is preferred.
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
  • Formal education in structural dynamics, structural mechanics, advanced strength of materials, and digital signal processing is required. Experience with composites and/or electronics structural and thermal durability/reliability is desirable.
  • Experience in structural engineering, including both simulation and testing, is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge in the design, testing, and optimization for durability and reliability of machinery is essential.
  • Experience in correlating simulation models with empirical test data is required.
  • Must be a collaborative team player with an inclusive mindset.
  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal, communication, and project management skills are necessary.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with structural data acquisition systems, both hardware and software, as well as mechanical strain measurement, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ANSYS, Hyperworks, Nastran, Siemens Test.Lab, Siemens SimCenter, and nCode is a plus.
  • Experience in Transport HVAC products, engines, fans, and compressors is preferred.
Compensation:

Annual base compensation: $100,000
