Job Summary

The Forensic Nurse Case Manager is responsible for providing comprehensive medical-forensic examinations to adult and adolescent patients reporting a history of interpersonal violence, including victims and suspects. This role requires a strong understanding of the nursing process, approved scope and standards, and the Alaska Nurse Practice Act.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and analyze patient information and history with an understanding of the cognitive, physical, cultural, emotional/psychosocial, spiritual, and chronological maturation process.
  • Function within an environment of crisis involving sensitive issues, often in conjunction with physical trauma, psychological trauma, and substance use.
  • Work in collaboration with law enforcement and advocacy agencies to provide quality services to all clients who present for care.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with team members to ensure the team response is patient-centered and sensitive.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Alaska Registered Nurse License upon hire.
  • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire.
  • 1 year Nursing experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current certification of completion of 40-hour Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) upon hire.
  • 16-hour SANE Clinical Skills Lab (CSL training) upon hire.
