Forensic Nurse Examiner RN Job Description

The Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE) is a critical role in providing comprehensive medical-forensic examinations to adult and adolescent patients who have experienced interpersonal violence, such as sexual assault or domestic violence. As a Forensic Nurse Examiner RN, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to this vulnerable population, utilizing the nursing process and adhering to the Alaska Nurse Practice Act.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough medical-forensic examinations, including collecting and documenting evidence
  • Provide sensitive and compassionate care to patients, addressing their physical, emotional, and psychological needs
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and advocacy agencies to ensure seamless care and support
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with team members to ensure a patient-centered response
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest evidence-based practices and protocols

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program
  • Alaska Registered Nurse License upon hire
  • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire
  • 1 year Nursing experience
  • Current certification of completion of 40-hour Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) training (preferred)
