Primary Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and meticulous professional to join our Finance team as a Senior Accounts Receivable Manager. This pivotal role will report directly to the VP, Corporate Controller and will oversee the accounts receivable function, including managing the billing operations conducted in India. The Senior Accounts Receivable Manager will be responsible for driving process enhancements, managing issue resolution, and ensuring efficient billing, dispute management, cash applications, and collections, with a strong emphasis on billing processes for government contracting and commercial project accounting requirements that necessitate close collaboration with Emmes project teams.

Key Duties Include:

  • Accounts Receivable Oversight: Supervise the accounts receivable function, encompassing invoicing, collections, and cash applications.
  • Billing Process Coordination: Work alongside Emmes project teams to ensure accurate execution of billing processes in accordance with project accounting requirements. Review project contracts, milestones, and billing schedules to align billing activities with project milestones and resource utilization.
  • AR Process Enhancements: Identify opportunities to refine the accounts receivable process, streamline workflows, implement automation, and improve efficiency in billing, dispute management, account reconciliations, cash applications, and collections.
  • Hands-On Leadership: Lead by example and engage in daily accounts receivable activities, ensuring timely and precise invoicing, cash applications, and collections efforts.
  • Dispute Resolution: Oversee the resolution of customer disputes and discrepancies, collaborating with cross-functional teams to address issues promptly.
  • Data Management: Ensure proper setup and maintenance of customer accounts.
  • Cash Applications: Accurately and promptly record customer payments, apply funds to customer accounts, and manage unapplied cash, providing insights for optimizing the company's cash utilization and working capital.
  • Collections Strategy: Develop, implement, and maintain effective collections strategies, monitoring and reducing accounts receivable delinquencies.
  • Compliance and Controls: Ensure adherence to company policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements related to accounts receivable.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Provide regular reporting and analysis of accounts receivable data, including aging reports, cash flow forecasting, and DSO analysis.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with other finance and operational teams to streamline accounts receivable-related processes and promote effective communication.
  • Team Management: Manage and mentor the offshore accounts receivable team, offering coaching, feedback, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field; equivalent combinations of education and relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

7+ years of relevant experience in accounts receivable management.

Experience in a Federal Government Contracting environment is required.

Experience overseeing offshore teams is preferred.

Strong understanding of accounts receivable principles, internal controls, and compliance requirements.

Experience with Deltek Costpoint and Time & Expense is required.

Proven track record of driving process improvements and implementing accounts receivable best practices.

Strong organizational, time management, and analytical skills.

Hands-on experience with accounts receivable systems and ERP platforms.

Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.

Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills to address accounts receivable-related challenges.

Effective leadership and communication abilities, with a focus on teamwork and collaboration.

May require travel between corporate locations.
